Organ Formation on Axillary Bud of Strawberry in Vitro Culture (1)

Abstract
Axillary buds of young strawberry plants (Fragaria¡¿ananassa cv. Hokowase), which were obtained by meristem tip culture, were cultured on Murashige and Skoog media containing various levels of BA, NAA and 2, 4-D.
1. Formation of single or multiple shoots, plantlets and callus depend on the hormone levels used.
2. Single shoot was formed and grown normally without hormone, whereas multiple shoots were formed on the medium containing 0.02 or 0.2§·/§¤ BA.
3. Multiple plantlets were produced on the medium containing 2§·/§¤ BA but elongation of the plantlets was decreased.
4. Callus was formed from axillary bud on the medium containing auxin at 0.2§·/§¤ or more, and BA inhibited callus formation.
